The SCBA is focused on developing a strong pipeline of pro-business leaders for Southern Colorado. Through candidate training, structured coaching, and direct engagement with experienced business advocates, the SCBA helps prepare future policymakers who understand the realities facing employers and communities across the region. This long-term approach strengthens Southern Colorado’s influence at the state level by ensuring capable, business-minded leaders are ready to step forward.
What Makes SCBA Different
Regional
Built by Chambers and businesses across Southern Colorado to advance shared priorities at the Capitol.
Business-Led
Driven by employers, not political operatives, with direct engagement between candidates and the business community.
State-Focused
The SCBA works exclusively on state-level races and policy—never local candidates or issues.
Building Pro-Business Leadership
Interviewing & Evaluating Candidates
Every participating Chamber plays a direct role in evaluating candidates seeking SCBA support. The Alliance convenes structured candidate interviews and policy forums where business leaders from across Southern Colorado engage candidates in substantive, real-world discussions.
These conversations focus on the issues most affecting regional competitiveness, including housing, infrastructure, workforce, childcare, regulation, and the cost of doing business. Chamber leaders help frame the questions, ensuring local priorities are reflected and candidates are held accountable through meaningful dialogue.
Endorsing the Right Candidates
Following interviews and business-driven evaluation, the SCBA and its independent companion organization, SoCo Action, issue strategic endorsements for state-level candidates who demonstrate business acumen, alignment with pro-growth priorities, and a strong regional vision.
Our endorsements are:
Locally informed — Shaped by Chambers of Commerce and business leaders
Strategically focused — Limited to state-level races
Action-oriented — Supported by coordinated communication and voter engagement
The SCBA is nonpartisan, but unapologetically pro-business.
Funding & Mobilizing Support
The SCBA pairs strategy with action. Participating Chambers contribute annually and engage their members in supporting endorsed candidates, while SoCo Action conducts independent outreach, advertising, and Get Out The Vote efforts in compliance with campaign finance law.
This coordinated structure allows Southern Colorado businesses to move beyond reactive advocacy and build lasting political influence—driven by the people who know their communities best.
